All things Bright and Beautiful is an autobiographical book about a
veteranian from Yorkshire, England. It is the sequel to All Creatures
Great and Small.
James Herriot's narrative style of storytelling comes about in a warm
and friendly way. He brings us into his day-to-day life as a vet in
the Yorkshire countryside. He loves to write about the various individuals
that he meets alongside his job and their unique personalities. Every
person he meets has a unique trait that makes them memorable.
His passion for food is also seen throughout the chapters. Descriptions
of Yorkshire puddings, delicious golden cups, crisply brown round at
the sides, an enormous cold roast, loaves of bread, butter and mustard
will make your mouth water. The animals that he writes about range from
cats to cows, to horses and their foal.
If you love animals and the outdoor, you will be charmed off your feet
with this novel. It makes you wish you could visit the place itself
(which many people who have read his books from all around the world
have done).
So treat yourself to a very good book by a very friendly man and his
many funny experiences. |
